Blue Spruce Park

Sun, April 27, 2025, 1:00 – 4:00 pm

Plant Patrol has scheduled this work event and we are seeking volunteers.

Description

We will pull non-native herbaceous Garlic Mustard plants along Getty Run in Blue Spruce Park. Garlic Mustard is beginning to establish itself in patches along the trail, so this is an ideal time to eliminate it before it takes over the understory. We pulled out all of these biennial plants last year, but it will take a few years to completely deplete the seed bank in the soil.

Garlic Mustard has shallow root systems, so they are easy to pull without tools or gloves. Wear long pants and sturdy shoes. Meet at the playground parking lot. If the parking lot is full, park at the Pavilion 3 parking lot.
