Description

POSTPONED UNTIL APRIL 12

Friends of White’s Woods postponed their April 5 work event until April 12 because of the weather. Plant Patrol organizers are doing a program at that time on invasive plants for Indiana County Friends of the Parks at Blue Spruce Park. So we won’t be able to participate as an organization on that date. You are welcome to help Friends of White’s Woods on April 12 without us, though. Contact Sara King at sking@francis.edu if you want to participate. She can tell you whether to join the 12th Street parking lot group or the IUP Coop parking lot group. Plant Patrol might schedule a separate work event at White’s Woods for this spring. We will keep you posted on that.

Below is the original description of this work event.

Friends of White's Woods (FWW) has planned a multi-organization work event for April 5 to pull barberry bushes from White's Woods Nature Center. Plant Patrol will participate as a team.

Our team will work at the bottom of Spring Trail along the stream in the Natural Heritage Area. We will meet at the 12th Street parking lot. Parking spaces are very limited, so carpool if you can or park on the streets below the parking lot and walk up to the park entrance.

Wear long sleeves, long pants, and sturdy footwear to protect against sharp barberry spines. Bring your own water. Bring your own favorite pair of work gloves or use our thorn-resistant gloves. FWW will serve light refreshments afterwards.
